New Vision (Kampala) - August 10, 2006
Sebidde Kiryowa
The main attraction of the show and lead singer will be local gospel singer Betty Nakibuuka Senyonjo, who will sing with her infant daughter Gloria.
Nakibuuka, who has been a born again Christian since 16, was chosen as a role model for the youth by ACF last year for getting married to husband John Senyonjo while still a virgin at 24 years in 1999.
Other artistes lined up for the do include Joseph Segawa, Robert Senyonga, Phoebe Ashaba, Florence Mugambe, Martin Seku, Nabweru Children's Choir and Chain Breakers.
ACF promotes abstinence among the youth and cares for orphaned children and AIDS widows. This is the second time ACF is using music in in a similar effort.
Last year, however, they only worked with Betty Nakibuuka and it was a smaller affair.
The Rev. Jim Nadiope, the president of ACF and pastor of Good Shepherd Celebration Centre at Hotel Calender, Makindye, says they chose a concert to communicate to youth because of the appeal music has to them.
