Respect church teachings û Ddungu

New Vision (Kampala) - December 8, 2005
Mathias Mazinga

THE Rt. Rev. Adrian Kivumbi Ddungu of Masaka diocese has asked secular leaders to respect the social teaching of the Catholic Church, reports Mathias Mazinga.

He lashed out at condom agitators, saying they were frustrating the church's efforts to defend the people from HIV/AIDS.

"We always get critics, who attack us and try to silence us whenever we pronounce our anti-condom stand.

They say we should limit ourselves to giving Christians catechetical instruction. Such people create a tricky situation for priests, which unfortunately makes our people more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS," Ddungu said.

He said this at a thanksgiving mass for the 25th priestly anniversary of Fr. Charles Lwanga Ssengendo at Kakoola, Mpigi district on Saturday.
