"Quite a big number of youth go on the Internet to surf for pornography. What happens after one has seen what the white men and women are doing is that one gets heated up and moves out to search for the same and in the process one ends up contracting HIV/AIDS. If you want yourself alive, you must desist from such habits," Kandole (left) said.
He was on Saturday addressing over 200 youth at the launch of "young empowered and health (YEAH) programme, a communication initiative to fight against HIV/AIDS among young people in western Uganda at Pelikan Hotel in Mbarara.
The programme national coordinator, Janet Akao, said YEAH was one of the new strategies by the Government was to bring the HIV/AIDS prevalence down.
She said in the first phase of the campaign, YEAH would focus on sensitising the youth on sexual exploitation as it is the major contributor of HIV/AIDS in youth.
The three-year programme is funded by the US agency for international development. Akao said the programme would cover the entire country and target people in the age bracket of 15-24 years.
