The associationÆs outgoing chairman, Bernard Runnebaum, said UBA aimed at promoting the enjoyment of owning and riding motorcycles and had a mission to support less fortunate people.
ôOur current mission is to raise funds for the Mbuya parish Reach-Out project, a local grassroot charity providing services such as healthcare and education to HIV/AIDS orphans,ö Runnebaum said.
He said in addition to the HIV/AIDS awareness campaign, UBA also recognised the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in northern Uganda and promoted awareness of road safety while, exploring many scenic roads in the country.
ôWe had planned to travel to northern Uganda this month, but with the recent deterioration in the security situation there, the visit to IDPs has been pushed to 2006 to allow the situation to improve,ö Runnebaum said.
Health state minister Mike Mukula commended UBA for supporting the orphans.
Mukula, the associationÆs patron, said the government would approve UBA to become the ambassadors of hope in the fight against the HIV/AIDS scourge.
The project director, Fr. Joseph Archetti, urged the children to develop a heart for helping others.
ôIt gives more joy to give than receive, therefore we should never get weary of doing good to others,ö Archetti said.
Certificates of appreciations were given to over 20 corporate sponsors, including The new vision, for their generosity.
