Women for trial
AFRICA - About 10,000 African women, including Ugandans, are this week enrolling to participate in a British study into a gel which could help prevent the spread of HIV. The women will be testing a microbicide-PRO-2000 to find out its effectiveness at protecting against HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
Bird flu scare
KINSHASA - Health authorities in the DRC blocked the release of a consignment of eggs from India for fear that they could be contaminated with the bird flu. Officials sais the importer failed to provide proper documentation from the Indian authorities.
