Buturo cautions on AIDS

New Vision (Kampala) - August 26, 2005
Dan Nsalasatta

Although Uganda has proved that it is championing the fight against HIV/AIDS, the challenge remains until the infection rate has dropped to zero, the information state minister has said.

Dr. Nsaba Buturo was opening the 33rd Joint Clinical Research Centre clinic at Kisoro Hospital.

He cautioned the Bafumbira that the HIV/AIDS clinic at Kisoro Hospital was not a warrant for them to indulge in promiscuity but to test to establish their status.

"I tested for HIV myself and the doctors said I was negative. The news excited me, just like anybody else, but it also taught me to be extra careful and to sensitise others," he said.
