New Vision (Kampala) - July 10, 2005
Robert Okello writes that Okwana last week urged the Iteso to desist from the cultural tendency to have sex in darkness.
He was speaking at a workshop on Soroti District's strategic HIV/AIDS plan at Eneku village.
Okwana said sex in darkness minimised the likelihood of proper condom use. He also said the Iteso had shunned condoms, claiming they were taboo.
The district planner, Martin Wabwire, blamed the spread of AIDS on poverty, which made women especially vulnerable since they were forced to sell their bodies in order to survive.
