Get to the nearest health centre as soon as possible. The doctor will carry out an HIV test before prescribing emergency Anti-retroviral (ARV)treatment.
"One has to be HIV negative, for a doctor to prescribe ARVs immediately. They are taken for 30 days," Dr Ian Clark of International Hospital, Old Kampala, says.

According to Dr. Batwala of Kadic Clinic, Nakulabye, there are several centres countrywide selected by the Ministry of Health, where one can get emergency Anti-retroviral treatment.
