The district health educator, William Kajura, said although the GovernmentÆs Engabu brand had been frozen and the procedure for approving new imports lengthened, Masindi would not be affected by the measures.
He was speaking at the closure of a two-day workshop for 45 condom distributors at Softie Guest House in Masindi on Tuesday. The Uganda Orphans Rural Development Programme (UORDP) organised the training, funded by the Global HIV/AIDS Fund.
ôThere should be no cause for alarm because we have enough stocks to satisfy demand,ö Kajura said. The condoms were imported from the Democratic Republic of Korea for free distribution at health centres.
The acting district health inspector, Patrick Baguma, advised the youth to abstain or have protected sex to avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases. He said free condoms were available at all health centres in the district.
