Moroto Grade Two Magistrate Jolly Onyang sent the students on remand on Friday after they denied the charges.
Those sent on remand were Jackson Mayanza, Bruno Lokutai, Abraham Kotol, Kenin Losike and Gabriel Lowot.
The students are said to have gone on strike to protest the school's failure to organise for them an end-of-year disco. They complained that the administration had instead organised for them an HIV/AIDS awareness workshop.
They smashed the windows of the dining hall and classrooms and the windscreen of the school lorry. The American Embassy recently renovated the dining hall at over sh380m.
Moroto district CID officer Romano Okuja said 13 other students, including seven girls, were granted a non-cash bail after they were found to be juveniles.
"Two of them are, however, still being looked after by the police awaiting their parents," Okuja said.
He said the police were trying to apprehend the suspected leader.
Okuja said the police used a medical officer to ascertain the ages of the students after some of them claimed they were less than 18 years.
"It turned out that many of them were indeed above the age of 18 years," Okuja said.
