Rukiga MP Jack Sabiiti advised them to stop wife inheritance and advised them to drop the belief that a woman does not belong to one man in a family.
He said HIV/AIDS is dangerous and advised the youths to abstain from sex and couples to be faithful to each other, or use condoms.
Sabiiti appealed to religious leaders to include anti-AIDS messages in their sermons.
"We have a problem. it's putting the lives of Bakiga at stake," he said.
Sabiiti, who was consulting the residents on the Government's white paper, talked about land and the presidential two-term limit.
He criticised the Cabinet's proposal of giving the president power to dissolve parliament, saying it was dangerous.
