Museveni told an Aids Forum on Monday at the International Confe-rence Centre in Kampala that ARVs were toxic and had many side effects if not properly applied.
He said, "I appeal to experts on HIV/AIDS to explain to our people the danger of using the ARVs so that they make informed decisions."
Museveni discouraged Ugandans from using ARVs at an early stage saying; "People must delay as much as possible to take them on because of the side effects. It is best to introduce ARVs when it is inevitable."
The Director general of Healthy Services, Prof. Francis Omaswa, said, "ARVs are toxic if not properly used.
"They cause among other things, skin rash, loss of weight, lack of appetite and disorganising blood structure."
