The sh60m centre was built and equipped by Plan International. The equipment comprises HIV/AIDS testing kits, stethoscopes, examination couches and a television set, among others.
Speaking at the opening of the centre last week, the Plan manager for Luweero, Ellis Ruga, said the centre will accommodate 100 children who will be provided with counselling services, medical treatment and HIV/AIDS testing and recreation.
The country director Plan International, Donald Keane, called for special care for children, saying they are future leaders.
He said children from Kalagala, Ziroobwe, Bamunaanika and Kikyusa sub-counties will benefit from the centre.
The chairperson of health and social services in Luweero, Aisha Kayaga, asked adults who cannot abstain from sex to use condoms to check the spread of AIDS.
She advised residents to shun risky lifestyle and watching pornographic movies which make them vulnerable to casual sex and anti-social behaviour.
