New Vision (Kampala) - October 30, 2003
This was disclosed by the Fund's director, Dr. Vivand Nantumya at the on-going 11th international conference on people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) at Munyonyo.
He said the Fund had earmarked $600m for HIV/AIDS programmes worldwide. Nantumya called for greater involvement of (PLWHAs) in anti-HIV/AIDS programmes.
He said as a living testimony to the disease, PLWAs were inseparable from the programmes.
Major Rubaramira Ruranga (right) has lived with HIV/AIDS since 1989. Nantumya was happy to note that there was an improvement in the public's attitude towards PLWHAs.
He said if the anti-HIV/AIDS is to succeed, the public should not shun PLWHAs.
He urged PLWHAs to monitor the implementation of HIV/AIDS programmes.
