The institute, targeting to enroll 100 students in January 2003, especially orphans, will impart integrated training in practical skills in agriculture and vocational trades.
The institute is also set to develop into formal secondary education for the orphans next month. It has a capacity for 900 students.
The American delegation that arrived on Monday, is on a five-day programme to study the progress made by the country in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Speaking at the luncheon she hosted her guests, Mrs. Museveni, who is also the patron and founder of UWESO, stressed that children were the future of Uganda.
She said Ugandans and their partners in development should support educational programmes to create a durable foundation for a skilled labour force to ensure development.
The business partners and government officials contributed up to sh66m in cash and pledges towards the completion of the institute. Notable among the contributions was a sh50m cheque from Mrs. Kim of the Hwan Sung aluminum and steel company.
Present were state ministers Muruli Mukasa for security, Mary Mutagamba for water and Fabius Byaruhanga for fisheries.
