Ochora Hails Donors On HIV/Aids Fight

New Vision (Kampala) - October 1, 2002
Vc Ogwang

GULU LC5 chairman Lt. Col. Walter Ochora has hailed donors for the assistance rendered in the fight against Aids.

Ochora said during a national consensus conference on HIV/AIDS for district coordinators at Soroti Hotel recently that local governments alone could not effectively fight Aids due to limited resources.

He said it was important that donors fill the gap.

He particularly thanked the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for its contribution to the district.

He said other donors had shown reluctance in sinking money in the war-ravaged district.

Ochora urged the Uganda Aids Commission to involve local councillors since HIV/AIDS was more prevalent in the urban areas.
