Sembabule Boss Warns On HIV/Aids Statistics

New Vision (Kampala) - September 24, 2002
Kiganda Ssonko

Sembabule LC5 chairman Herman Ssentongo has advised stakeholders in the crusade against HIV/AIDS to give true facts about the statistics.

He said they were giving contradictory statistical data about the disease, adding that it is a threat to the fight against AIDS.

He said this recently while opening a one-day feedback workshop on voluntary counselling and testing for central region districts at Hotel Africana.

"Many times, you hear organisations or people giving very different statistical data in a contradictory way about AIDS," he said.

"But such contradictions can easily confuse the preventive efforts being set against the disease locally and internationally in as far as people's perceptions and funding the campaigns are concerned," he added.

He advised Ugandans to go for HIV testing to enable them know their sero-status so as to plan.
