The money is part of the US$10m awarded as seed grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to Hope for African Children Initiative (HACI), a community-based Pan-African effort addressing problems faced by more than 13 million African children either orphaned by the AIDS pandemic or whose parents are HIV/AIDS positive.
The 10 selected groups include Kyengera Women's AIDS Association in Wakiso district (sh4m), IRCU Project Concept in Kampala (sh9m), Namirembe Diocese (sh5m) and Nsambya Babies Home (sh6,150,900).
