Five Million Condoms for Xmas

New Vision (Kampala) - December 13, 2001
Kikonyogo Ngatya

MSI-UGANDA, the distributors of LIFEGUARD condoms have imported 5 million condoms for the Christmas season.

Christine Namayanja, the Life Guard acting programme director, told journalists in Kampala yesterday that another 5 million would be in the country before the new year's day. A total of 230,000 female condoms have also been stocked.

"There has been a general shortage of the condoms because of high demand. We hope the stock will cater for the needs of our customers especially through this festive season," she said.

Namayanja expressed concern over the non-availability of small-size condoms for teenagers.

"Teenagers are a serious concern to all of us as organisations involved in the fight against sexually transmitted infections including AIDS. They need smaller condoms, but we cannot import them because of some restrictions," she said.
