The rumors began after Zaire's president, Mobuto Sese Seko, met with Botha on Saturday and told the British Broadcasting Company that Botha would come to Lusaka, Zambia, this week to hammer out a peace agreement with the leaders of Angola, Botswana, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho.
Kaunda told Newsday, however, that there was "no question" of his meeting with Mr. Botha on Zambian soil unless South Africa stopped interfering in other countries in southern Africa and permitted free elections in Namibia.
