AEGiS News Service - May 4, 2004
Our ongoing effort to provide HIV/AIDS conference abstracts has lead to the completion of another International AIDS Society Conference being added to the AEGiS database.
Our content assistant, April, has posted and made available to view on AEGiS, the 1st International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis and Treatment that took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina on July 8-11, 2001. May 18th is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day, a day to educate Americans about the need for vaccines to prevent HIV.
This year's theme is "Real People. Real Progress." Wear your Red AIDS Ribbon upside down to bring attention to HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. This gives individuals a unique way to show their personal awareness about HIV vaccine research.
The link below is a great resource for info about HIV vaccines:

IAVI is a global, non-profit organization working to speed the development and distribution of preventive AIDS vaccines - the world's best hope for ending the AIDS epidemic.
The next big event coming up for AEGiS is the "18th Annual AIDS Walk Orange County", Sunday, June 6, 2004. AEGiS has been selected to be one of the recipient agencies. The walk is hosted by ASF - AIDS Services Foundation. The Foundation helps more than 1,500 men, women, children, and families in Orange County living with HIV disease. Services include food, transportation, housing, emergency financial assistance, kids and family programs, mental health counseling, support groups and HIV education and prevention services. They work hard to ensure everyone living with HIV and AIDS in Orange County has access to life enhancing care and prevent its spread.
For those of you who are familiar with AEGiS, Sr. Mary Elizabeth will be in attendance to visit and answer questions for those attending the walk. The AEGiS booth will be set up in the Health Expo. We look forward to seeing you there!
To find out how YOU can participate in this lifesaving event, or for more information, please access the following weblink to the AIDS Walk Orange County and join Team AEGiS.
