In 2001 we had 40 million people living with HIV/AIDS, 5 million people newly infected and 3 million people died from this terrible disease.

These statistics, released by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), are a painful reminder that there is no room for complacency in the fight against the AIDS epidemic. The disease, which has spread to every corner of the world, is infecting about 14,000 new people every day.

These figures makes us at AEGiS all the more determined to acquire and make available as much information as possible for the millions of people struggling with the daily affects of living with HIV/AIDS.
