Dr. Manuel Barbeite, 70, was also ordered to repay about $3.5 million to the federal healthcare program.
He was convicted in August of fabricating patient records and writing prescriptions for Diagnostic Medical Choice, a Southwest Miami-Dade clinic that billed Medicare for HIV infusion services that were never provided to patients.
Also convicted: Dr. Walter Proano, 46, whose sentencing is set for Dec. 10.
The clinic was paid almost $16 million by Medicare after it submitted $19.5 million in false claims for HIV infusion treatments from 2003 to 2006.
