Cynthia Aguilar is approaching the Dania Beach Pier, said Capt. Glenn Morris with the city's Marine Rescue Division. Paramedics will be there when she arrives to make sure she is OK, Morris said.
Aguilar started the 52 miles from Bimini Monday night, said Bill Geddes of Miami Beach Ocean Rescue. Aguilar is lying on a paddle board and paddling with a swimming stroke toward the beach, Geddes said.
Aguilar did the swim to raise money and awareness about the fight against AIDS, Geddes said. She had planned the event for several months.
