The awards will honor the work of a doctor, a volunteer and a person living with HIV.
The luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Eden Roc Resort, 4525 Collins Ave.
Dr. Janet Davis will receive the Medical Doctor-Research Award for her work in eye diseases related to AIDS. She is an ophthalmologist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
"It is an honor to receive this award," Davis said. "Mothers' Voices provides a unique and personal approach to AIDS awareness and education. It is great to see the commitment of individuals to the fight against AIDS."
Sheri Kaplan will receive the Person Living With HIV award. She is the founder of the Center for Positive Connections, the first support group in Miami for HIV-positive heterosexual people.
"I never thought that being HIV-positive would give me the status that I have achieved," Kaplan said of the award. "I started doing this to help other people in the community, not just myself."
Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavati will receive the Volunteer/Caregiver Award. She is the founder of the River Fund, which works to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support to people with AIDS.
Barbara Gaynor, the founder of the local chapter of Mothers' Voices, lost a son to AIDS 3-1/2 years ago and has another son who is HIV-positive. She believes it is important to honor all those who fight the disease.
"These women all have different experiences with AIDS," she said. "They are all different individuals who represent a real cross-section of the community. These people have made a tremendous commitment to be on the front lines in the battle against AIDS."
