The event will offer educational literature on the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, with at least 60 health vendors and some guest speakers present. Jill Tracey from HOT 105 will be mater of ceremonies for the event. Several local artists will perform. There will also be anonymous HIV testing, diabetes and tuberculosis screening, skits on AIDS/HIV prevention, face painting and other activities.
The fair is free and will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at African Square Park, 1466 NW 62nd St.
MIAMI: Have you got ongoing federal tax problems? Today, the Internal Revenue Service is holding a Problem Solving Day for South Florida taxpayers who need help. Issues such as misapplied checks, nonreceipt of refunds and unresolved bills can be resolved. IRS personnel will be at the IRS downtown Miami office in the Claude Pepper Federal Building, 51 SW First Ave. Taxpayers unable to attend can call the IRS from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays and request that their problem be referred to the Problem Resolution Program. The numbers are 1 (800) 829-1040 and (954) 423-7684.
SOUTH DADE: In celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico, a series of festivities will take place today and Sunday at St. Ann Catholic Mission, 13875 SW 264th St., Naranja. The events begin at 4 p.m. today with a pilgrimage from the mission and around the neighborhood, followed by the Rosary at 6 p.m. and family entertainment starting at 7 p.m. At 5 a.m. Sunday, mariachis will serenade the saint. There will be an open air Mass at 11 a.m., then a festival of music, folkloric ballet, food and games. Call (305) 258-3968.
