Florida International University's department of student activities is presenting a program entitled "Friendship in the Age of AIDS." Indiana University alumni and fraternity brothers Joel Goldman, who is HIV-positive, and T.J. Sullivan teach college students how to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the AIDS virus.

Goldman and Sullivan will make their presentation at 7 p.m. Monday in the GC ballroom at FIU's University Park Campus, Southwest Eighth Street and 107th Avenue. Admission is free.

The duo have been traveling around the country since 1993. Goldman, 34, and Sullivan, 29, have visited more than 100 campuses each year.

The program uses humor with real-life scenarios to make its point. The program centers around Goldman's experience as a fraternity member and the risks he took, mixing unprotected sex and use of alcohol. Sullivan teaches students about the effects alcohol can have on decision-making, the effects of the HIV virus and the ways students can reduce their risks and take more preventive measures.

Call FIU's student activities office at 348-2138 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
