* Friends Research Institute in Los Angeles has a clinical trial offering treatment within 72 hours of possible exposure to HIV through "high-risk" sex or drug use. The program has offices in Hollywood and South-Central Los Angeles. For information, call (888) 995-8880.
* USC has a clinical trial for people who believe they have been exposed through sex and who come in within 36 hours of exposure. For information, call clinical project manager Robert Sanchez at (323) 343-8292, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Or call USC's HIV clinic at (323) 343-8255. You may also page AIDS clinician Debra Johnson at (888) 510-4502.
* UC San Francisco and San Francisco General Hospital are conducting a clinical trial of post-exposure prophylaxis that must be given within 72 hours of potential high-risk exposure to HIV. For information, call (415) 514-4737 between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
