The community service grants, totaling $29,300, were awarded Tuesday to charitable agencies, some of which work with minorities, children and people with special needs.
Grant recipients this year are Valley Community Clinic in North Hollywood, El Proyecto Del Barrio in Panorama City and Homestead Hospice in West Hills, as well as the East Valley Community Health Center in West Covina, AIDS Care Inc. in Ventura, AIDS Service Center in Pasadena and Serra Project in Los Angeles. The grants will be used to provide counseling, case management, AIDS awareness education, transportation and legal assistance, services and needs not covered in an individual's normal insurance policy.
Kaiser has provided more than $14 million in grants since the program's inception in 1988, according to officials.
