JOHANNESBURG, 24 November (PLUSNEWS) - The World Health Organisation (WHO), together with NGOs, the International HIV/AIDS Alliance and Christian Aid, have launched an online photo essay showing some of the real faces of the HIV/AIDS pandemic.

Using a set of 13 photo stories, the exhibition depicts "the destruction of lives and families decimated by AIDS", including HIV-positive people from South Africa and Zambia, WHO has said.

"These photos show us the real faces of HIV, the devastation it causes, and the reason why global commitment and action should be sustained," said Jim Kim, HIV/AIDS Director of WHO, in a statement.

The photo stories are featured at www.who.int
