The funds will be made available under an agreement signed in Ethiopia between UNICEF and Norway on Wednesday.
The money will be used to build up the capacity of Ethiopia's national and regional HIV/AIDS council secretariats and that of their implementing partners in HIV/AIDS youth prevention programming and participation.
The agreement was a response to the rapid spread of HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia, which is estimated to have close to 3 million HIV-positive people, including 250,000 children under five years of age, said Walta. Nairobi, 10 September 2001
