The sale includes up to 20 student paintings, photographs, handmade scarves and a Native American artwork collection that was donated to the college several years ago. The event will run from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Art Barn on the Palos Heights campus, 6601 W. College Drive.
The Social Justice Chapter at Trinity helped organize the "art raid." Members got the idea of helping the health center, at 3680 W. Odgen Ave., from Acting on AIDS, a student chapter of World Vision, an international Christian relief and development organization. Several members of Acting on AIDS volunteer at the Lawndale center.
"It's a way to reach out to the community and reach for social justice," said Aaron Carpenter, 19, a sophomore and a member of the Social Justice Chapter. "It's what our school is all about, too."
Trinity senior Allison Backous said, "Art raids are also intended to create space on campus where students and faculty can learn about justice issues in the community and find ways to connect, volunteer or offer support through fundraising."
