Michael L. Jackson, 38, a former HIV/AIDS communications specialist for the city, is charged in the February 2005 slaying of Haroon Paryani, 61. Lawyers on Monday selected June 13 as a preliminary date for jury selection.
Jackson allegedly ran over Paryani after a quarrel in the 500 block of West Briar Place on the city's North Side.
Since his arrest, Jackson has been charged in DuPage County with the reckless assault of a nurse he allegedly spat on and with reckless conduct for allegedly having sexual contact with inmates in the DuPage County Jail without disclosing that he is HIV positive.
