Inspired by previous collections from Stella McCartney's main collection, every item is a Stella staple reinterpreted for the H&M customer--at H&M prices (thus the mood elevation). See for yourself the similarly sharp tailoring and cool femininity, in a mix of daywear, tailored classics, eveningwear, lingerie and accessories, at hm.com.
"This one-off collection is a 'best of Stella McCartney.' So many people come up to me and say, 'I love your designs but could never afford them.' This collaboration is a great way to speak to a wider audience," McCartney said in a press release.
McCartney's guest run follows the Swedish retailer's collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld last fall, when November sales rose 24 percent. McCartney's women's collection will feature about 40 pieces, including skinny jeans with zippers ($69.90), a fitted gray suit jacket ($129), an oversized white cotton shirt with French cuffs ($40) and an oversized trench coat ($129). A wide metal bracelet (a key trend going into winter and spring) is $24.90; a metal belt $39.90.
"It is built around separates," she told the Worth Global Style Network. "Styling is the key. No matter how personal the design is, what really counts are the way you put things together and how you express your own personality."
Beyonce at Field's
An unforgettable fall fragrance season--is this the new fashion?--has ushered Chicagoans into Jennifer Lopez's and Sarah Jessica Parker's mist, er, midst.
Next up, Beyonce Knowles.
She'll sign purchases of her new fragrance, True Star Gold, and its predecessor True Star at Marshall Field's State Street on Tuesday. It's her first and only department-store appearance for the new floral fragrance, with notes of Provence melon, golden kiwi and linden blossom.
The event is from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at the 111 N. State St. store.
Former supermodel Niki Taylor will appear at Lord & Taylor on Thursday for her new fragrance, Begin by Niki Taylor. Taylor will sign bottles from 5 to 7 p.m. at 835 N. Michigan Ave., main floor.
7th on Sale goes online
After 10 years, 7th on Sale, founded by the Council of Fashion Designers of America Foundation and Vogue magazine, will soon be available online for the first time.
Billing itself as the world's largest online sample sale of designer items for women, men, children and the home, 7th on Sale will launch on eBay on Thursday, running through Dec. 7, with proceeds going to fight HIV/AIDS.
Thousands of one-of-a-kind designer items will be available. Among them: a Donna Karan jersey dress worn by Susan Sarandon, retail value $5,900, a Carolina Herrera silk moire gown worn by Renee Zellweger (value $5,490) and Diane von Furstenberg one-of-a-kind suede boots (value $1,200).
Tips before you shop:
- Know your measurements. A Marc Jacobs size 8 may not equal a Dolce & Gabanna size 8. All clothing will have measurements on the product tags.
- Use specific search terms for efficiency. For example, instead of "dress," search for "Diane von Furstenberg black wrap dress size 8."
- Determine your maximum bid. eBay's bidding system automatically increases bidding in increments on your behalf up to your maximum.
- Not all listings are auctions. A feature called "Buy It Now" lets you purchase the item instantly by paying a fixed price.
The proceeds will be distributed for AIDS education and prevention programs through the CFDA-Vogue Initiative/New York City AIDS Fund.
