The "Faces of AIDS" photography exhibit features portraits of HIV-positive people accompanied by stories about their lives.
"The documentary really breaks down barriers because it shows that whites, blacks, gays and straight people have AIDS," said Jarrig Vesser, coordinator of student life at Elgin Community College.
Thirty photographs will be on display in the Instructional Center for Training lounge on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
About 20 photos will be on view in the lounge of the Fountain Square Campus, 51 S. Spring St., Elgin.
One of the subjects of the documentary will speak and answer questions at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 3 in the training center lounge.
In addition, four sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display in the lounge and three sections will be on view in Room 439 on the Fountain Square Campus.
On Oct. 5 the college will host its third annual AIDS 5K walk. Registration is at 8 a.m.; the walk starts at 9:30 a.m.
The Kane County Health Department will conduct free HIV screenings the day of the walk.
