What's to be had? Everything from cool and contemporary KleinReid vases from potters James Klein and David Reid (opening bid, $125; $400 retail) to Cappellini's Irkel partition bookcase (opening bid, $6,500; $12,075 at Luminaire, 301 W. Superior St.).
You can check out the auction offerings--or buy smaller items, such as plates, games, books, glassware and flatware--from noon to 4 p.m. today at the "Real World Chicago" home at 1934 W. North Ave. Nothing has been used more than about six months. Preview admission is $15. The actual auction (both live and silent) of the higher-end furniture and furnishings, lighting and appliances will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Auction admission is $25; $35 for the preview and auction.
Admission proceeds will benefit The Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds five Chicago area AIDS/HIV service organizations. Proceeds from furniture sold will be distributed among present and past "Real World" cast members.
If you manage to be a "highest bidder," you can catch your celebrity chair or pool table or whatever the case may be on TV Jan. 15, when RWC begins its four-month run.
