From Tuesday, November 27 to Monday, December 3, ten 12' x 12' panels from the 54-ton, handmade tapestry, a memorial to more than 90,000 individuals lost to HIV/AIDS, will be displayed at Penn campus sites, including Van Pelt Library, LGBT Center, Hillel at Steinhardt, Harrison College House, the Dental School, College Hall, Towne Hall, Nursing Education, the Law School, and the ARCH.
On Saturday, December 1, following a walking tour of Quilt panels across campus, a vigil will take place on College Green, where a moment of silence will be observed to remember those lost to HIV/AIDS.
On Tuesday, December 4, all ten panels of the Quilt will be moved to Houston Hall's Hall of Flags for a public event from 5-7 p.m., featuring a program of performers including The Excelano Project, Philadelphia Voices of Pride Choir, Reverend Beverly Dale, and others.
Panels from the Memorial Quilt are available to Penn through The NAMES Project Foundation.
Founded in 1750, the Penn Libraries are proud to support the LGBT Center at Penn, one of the oldest and most active programs supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, staff, alumni, and faculty and increasing the Penn community's understanding and acceptance of its sexual and gender minority members.
