Speakers for The California Institute on HIV/AIDS Prevention Policy include the Honorable John Duran, West Hollywood City Council member; Patricia Funderbunk Ware, Executive Director, Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS; Dr. Cynthia Gomez, Assistant Adjunct Professor, Center for AIDS Prevention Studies (CAPS) at the University of California San Francisco; and Phill Wilson, Executive Founder of the African American AIDS Policy and Training Institute in Los Angeles.
Co-chairs Daniel Montoya, APLA Director of Government Affairs and Orenda Warren, MAP Director of Health Education, will moderate the Prevention Policy Institute.
"APLA released our California Candidate Survey on HIV/AIDS Policy to coincide with the conference because it measures the positions of state and federal candidates on HIV/AIDS issues, including questions on HIV/AIDS prevention policy," said Montoya. "Prevention is one of the most pressing issues facing service providers and policy makers as AIDS enters the third decade. Our Institute will provoke discussion about prevention policy and funding obstacles. This survey tells voters exactly where the candidates stand on these issues."
