Through a contract with the State of Florida, AHF provides disease management services to eligible Florida Medicaid recipients with AIDS/HIV. The intent of the services is to utilize AHF's expertise in treating AIDS/HIV to increase patient outcomes while controlling costs, resulting in a savings to Florida's Medicaid program. AHF also operates an outpatient medical clinic in Jacksonville.
By far, the largest cost component of treating AIDS/HIV is drug costs. AHF hopes to work with R & K to better manage the provision of AIDS/HIV drugs, to reduce costs.
The average cost of medications for people with AIDS/HIV is approximately $10,000 per patient per year. AHF's disease management program currently serves approximately 6,700 patients in Florida.
AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is the largest provider of specialized HIV/AIDS medical care in the United States. AHF serves thousands of patients in California, New York and Florida regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
