Study Reveals Americans Are Ready to Slip Into Something More Comfortable; Durex Ultra Comfort Condom Survey Rates Importance of Comfort While Being Close

Business Wire - July 6, 1999

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 6, 1999--Although the phrase "let me slip into something more comfortable" may not be used any more, a new study released today reveals comfort is still key.

Durex Consumer Products, marketers of Durex, the world's leading condom brand, conducted a national online survey among 1,064 individuals (540 men and 524 women), ages 21 years and older.

This U.S. poll reveals that despite the increasing desire for comfort as individuals become more sexually mature, 60 percent of men stated that normal condoms do not deliver enough comfort and sensation. New innovations in condom technology may help solve their dilemma. Durex Ultra Comfort condoms have a larger contoured shape for a more comfortable fit. By providing more room for a pleasurable fit, Durex Ultra Comfort condoms may be the perfect way to increase comfort and pleasure while providing the quality protection most couples desire.

Not surprisingly, 95 percent of respondents said their favorite activity performed in the bedroom was sex. More than half agreed that a soft comforter and sheets, as well as candles for romantic lighting, would bring more comfort to their bedroom. Surprisingly, more respondents felt that having condoms shaped for more comfort would add more comfort to their bedroom than an expensive mattress.

Although the bedroom was the most popular location to enjoy comfortable sex, when asked about some of the most uncomfortable places they ever made love, respondents gave a wide range of responses. One respondent said the bleachers at a baseball field were the most uncomfortable place they ever made love, while another remembered a prickly rendezvous in a haystack. Other responses included a snow mobile, a garbage dumpster, a ferris wheel and on top of a fire ant hill!

Durex Consumer Products is a division of London International Group, Inc., a subsidiary of London International Group plc. of Great Britain, the manufacturer of Durex, the world's leading condom brand.
