The company announced today that its new Ana-Sal(TM) saliva test kit has now been approved for use in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.
"The Ana-Sal(R) test has the potential to revolutionize AIDS testing by offering millions of people a fast, convenient and reliable indication of their exposure to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS," said Dr. Joseph P. D'Angelo, founder and president of Americare Health Scan, Inc. "Acceptance by these countries is another important step as we work to help those at risk to monitor their health and limit their exposure."
The Ana-Sal(R) test is painless, quick and completely private, and can be conducted in only five minutes, Dr. D'Angelo noted. It accurately detects HIV 1, 2 and Subtype "O," and has produced results that were 99.18 percent consistent with conventional blood tests.
"The Ana-Sal(R) saliva-based HIV test is convenient and inexpensive, which makes regular testing much more accessible," Dr. D'Angelo noted. "This offers the possibility of early, life-extending treatment to thousands of victims who might otherwise put off testing until the disease is advanced."
"The need for this technology has never been greater," he added, pointing out that over 30 million men, women and children are now believed to carry the HIV virus, with approximately 6 million new cases occurring each year. "In approving the Ana-Sal(R) HIV Test for use in their countries, these health officials have taken steps that could save literally millions of lives, both by helping to prevent the spread of the disease and by enabling patients to begin potentially life-saving treatment earlier."
The Ana-Sal(R) kit can be used in a variety of settings including doctors' offices, work places, remote clinics or field tests, or even for entry testing at a country's borders. Americare Health Scan, Inc. is marketing the Ana-Sal HIV test kit in countries throughout Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe, and is awaiting FDA approval before making the product available in the United States.
Americare Health Scan, Inc. is a leading developer of non-invasive health screening and medical diagnostic technology. The company has also developed technology for detection of peptic ulcers, hepatitis, prostate and colorectal cancer, pregnancy, substance abuse, and non-invasive monitoring of blood sugar levels.
