*T WHO: President Clinton and Vice President Gore will join STARBRIGHT Chairman Steven Spielberg and STARBRIGHT Capital Campaign Chairman General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, along with kids from hospitals across the country, to announce the 1998 expansion of STARBRIGHT World, an interactive computer network linking seriously ill children.
The STARBRIGHT Foundation is a collaboration of pediatric medicine, entertainment and advanced technology that creates projects to empower seriously ill children to combat their daily medical and psychosocial challenges. STARBRIGHT World has been revised and expanded based on feedback from children and health care professionals during a successful 18-month beta test.
WHAT: The President, Vice President, Spielberg and Schwarzkopf will participate in a live demonstration of STARBRIGHT World from Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and speak face to face via advanced video conferencing with young patients at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as other hospitals across the country.
The demonstration will showcase several enhancements made to STARBRIGHT World, which include real-time video conferencing, audio and text connections, multi-user games, 3-D virtual play spaces, secured Internet access and health care content designed to address the specific questions, needs and concerns of seriously ill children.
Spielberg and Schwarzkopf will participate in a brief Q&A following the demonstration.
