BUSINESS WIRE - 44 Montgomery St, 39th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104; Tel: (415) 986-4422; FAX: (415) 788-5335 - Thursday August 28 12:15 PM EDT
The report is quoted as stating, ``We found the HIV- LOGIC(TM) test to be an excellent assay for the detection of HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies. The test seemed to perform especially well in identifying early serocoversion specimens. One advantage the HIV- LOGIC(TM) test may have over other immunofiltration assays is that it uses a prefilter to allow samples to be run directly and without prior centrifugation. Another advantage is that refrigerated kit storage is not required. The test is simple to use and all necessary materials are provided in the kit. Each assay requires approximately three minutes to complete.''
Further scientific studies using the Pace HIV - LOGIC(TM) test kit have shown that all subgroups of HIV-1 and HIV -2 are identified including the relatively newly discovered HIV -1(0) which is frequently missed by other kits. This gives HIV-LOGIC(TM) the widest possible range of detection capabilities in HIV diagnostics today.
Dr. Jeremy Clapp welcomed the report and said that it would have a significant impact on sales around the world. He also noted that because the HIV-LOGIC(TM) tests do not require refrigerated storage, its availability will not be restricted by climate and Pace will be able to offer the product in all parts of the world.
Dr. Clapp also announced that DistriMedic of Mauritius has been appointed as distributor for the Arabian Peninsula and most of Africa. Product has already been ordered and custom labelled kits will be shipped in early September. Announcements are also expected shortly regarding appointment of international distributors in Europe and South America.
