CAELYX, the next generation anthracycline oncology drug, is a long- circulating STEALTH(R) liposome formulation of doxorubicin, a widely- used anticancer agent. CAELYX is marketed in the United States under the trade name DOXIL(R) for the treatment of Kaposi's sarcoma in people with AIDS whose disease has progressed on prior combination chemotherapy or in patients who are intolerant to such therapy. Schering-Plough is currently launching CAELYX in the European Union countries, where it is available in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Finland and the Netherlands.
"We are pleased to receive additional approvals for CAELYX in the worldwide market," said Aron Stein, SEQUUS' Vice President for Regulatory Affairs. "Our regulatory people have been working very successfully with the Schering-Plough regulatory personnel to rapidly obtain marketing approval throughout the Schering territory."
