The Marcus A. Conant Foundation was established to provide a direct line of communication between heath care providers, pharmaceutical companies and people affected by HIV disease. In keeping with our mission, the Foundation will continue to provide access for the HIV community to the most current treatment information and the researchers making these discoveries.
In the near future, we will be presenting a number of Community Forums, free and open to the public.
The next forum, Monday, Dec. 16, will address the topic "Does HIV Hide in the Lymph Nodes?" Dr. Roger Mills of Abbott Laboratories will review the data he presented at the 3rd International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection. Dr. Mills will present new research on HIV in the lymphatic system.
In February, 1997 we will present a review of the 4th Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections. This Forum will present the most up to the moment treatment strategies to the people who need it most.
The Foundation wishes to emphasize that while there are promising treatments available, there is no known cure for AIDS. It is imperative to continue research of promising treatments for people living with HIV disease, and to redouble prevention efforts to stop the rate of new infections.
We urge guarded caution, and most importantly, we hope this will be one of the last World AIDS Days.
