750,000 people will converge on the National Mall when the NAMES Project unfolds all 40,000 panels of the AIDS Memorial Quilt for display October 11, 12 and 13. The theme for opening day is youth and tens of thousands of high school students will come to the Quilt as part of classroom HIV awareness activities. The Quilt has doubled in size since it was last shown here in 1992, and 4,000 new panels are expected to be added over the weekend.

- Stadtlanders Wellness Pavilion to offer latest information in HIV disease management in traditional and alternative therapies

Founded in 1987, the NAMES Project Foundation sponsors and displays the AIDS Memorial Quilt to help bring an end to the epidemic. Through a network of 41 national chapters and 34 international affiliates, the Quilt is seen by one million people each year at nearly 2,000 displays. To date, some seven million people have visited the Quilt. Money raised at Quilt displays funds services for people living with HIV and AIDS.
