HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill.--(HealthWire)--Oct. 8, 1996--

Physicians And Social Service Organizations Encouraged To Apply

Home Access Health Corporation announced today that the company is expanding its national listing of more than 13,000 state/local health departments, AIDS service organizations, physicians, and related social service providers to include the greatest number of eligible organizations as possible. All organizations listed in the company's Referraltrak database are verified and used exclusively to provide medical and social service referrals for Home Access clients who purchase either Home Access(TM) or Home Access Express(TM).

"Referraltrak is a powerful tool that links our clients to healthcare providers who can provide long-term care. It's verified, extensive, and continually updated and should not be confused as being similar to our competitor's database in any shape or form," commented Richard A. Quattrocchi, president for Home Access Health Corporation.

Organizations and physicians listed in Referraltrak are verified prior to being listed. Initiated in late 1994, Referraltrak is made up of multiple public and private databases that were merged together and were individually verified for accuracy by Home Access staff. It is continually updated and Home Access Health has full-time dedicated staff to ensure quality assurance and verification of all database entries. With more than 13,000 listings, Referraltrak has extensive coverage in all 50 states and is growing.

Organized by services provided, Referraltrak includes and identifies which organizations provide services to address the needs of specific populations, such as youth, communities of color, and people who suffer from homelessness.

"The Referraltrak system will play an important role in establishing a vital link between individuals who are in need of additional or follow-up care, and the appropriate treatment, support and program services for their specific needs," commented Eleanor Hinton Hoytt of the National Council of Negro Women. "We see this as most important for those who need more culturally appropriate, age or language services than would be provided in a telephone consultation or counseling session."

Referraltrak lists organizations that provide a wide variety of services to people affected by HIV, including: alternative therapies, buddy programs, case management, crisis intervention, dental, domestic violence, financial aid, food pantry, support groups, legal assistance, medical treatment, psychotherapy, referrals, spiritual counseling, and substance abuse counseling and treatment.

"It's easy to apply and go through our screening process," said Eleanor Lally, Referraltrak administrator for Home Access Health Corporation. "This way we know exactly what type of services each organization provides, and more importantly, this allows us to provide verified referrals that meet an individual client's needs."

Organizations interested in being listed can call Eleanor Lally at 847/781-2500 ext. 88001 to receive the 1-page application form or please fax your request to 847/781-2560. Please allow seven business days for your application to be processed. There is no charge for being listed.

Recently cleared by the FDA in July, Home Access HIV-1 testing allows people to anonymously collect a blood spot sample, access professional counseling 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and retrieve a test result in 3 or 7 business days, depending on the type of collection kit purchased.

The retail prices for Home Access Express(TM) (offers results in 3 business days) and Home Access(TM) (offers results in 7 days) are $49.95 and $39.95 respectively. Both products are offered in both English and Spanish with bilingual written instructions and 24-hour availability of Spanish-speaking counselors. Home Access Express(TM) can be purchased by calling 1-800-HIV-TEST.

Home Access Health Corporation is a privately held company dedicated to breaking the barriers in healthcare access by bringing people and technology together through telemedicine.
