Bangkok Opera HIV Awareness Project

Bangkok Post - November 4, 2009

In preparation for Bangkok's 2nd "World Opera Week", a fund-raiser dinner-concert-celebrity event will be held tomorrow at the Rembrandt Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 20.

Honorary chair will be Privy Councillor MR Thep Devakula. The event will also be attended by Bruce Gaston and Somtow Sucharitkul.

The Bangkok Opera's HIV Awareness Project is a three-year plan to put extremely talented HIV-infected and normal children together in a creative atmosphere of music making and theatrical production.

The fun starts with drinks at 7pm, followed by dinner at 8pm. There will also be a variety show, as well as a celebrity auction of fascinating art and opera memorabilia. The Shounen-Thai Quartet, Fong Nam Ensemble, local and visiting opera singers, the children of Gaston's opera A Boy and a Tiger, including children from Ban Gerda and the Mercy Centre will perform.

The performance will climax with a rare duet by Somtow and Gaston, the dynamic duo of the Thai music scene.

For reservations call the Bangkok Opera on 02-231-5273, or email Chintana at chintana@bangkokopera.com.

Tickets are 3,000 baht (includes dinner and entertainment). A table of 10 costs 30,000 baht.
