Healthy Sexuality Database

Bangkok Post - June 23, 2009

Unesco Bangkok recently launched the Healthy Sexuality Database, in partnership with the National Science Museum of Thailand and UNAids, to profile Thailand's history of sexual health and HIV prevention, which began 15 years ago.

Nearly a thousand education and campaign resource materials, in both English and Thai, on sexual health and HIV related issues can be accessed from the online database and can be downloaded free of charge.

The materials include posters; leaflets; booklets; reports; both audio and video commercials, including radio spots; documentaries and talk shows; interactive computer games; condom gimmicks; and academic theses developed by government ministries, non-profit and community-based organisations and health professionals.

Supaluk Sawatnatee, a biology teacher at Mathayom Wathattasankaset School in Pathum Thani, said the database is also a highly useful resource for both teachers and parents.

"It's a direct resource and helps save a lot of time. Also, the information comes from a [trustworthy] source," she said.

Access the database at http://www.hs-db.net/eng/index.php . For further details, email p.bergstrom@unescobkk.org.
