He was speaking yesterday at a conference, "Business fights Aids in Asia". The coalition groups international businesses dedicated to help fight HIV/Aids.
Mr Holbrookes said companies could start by educating employees and their families about HIV. They should draw up policies to manage issues such as confidentiality of medical information.
Bill Black, co-founder of the Asian Business Coalition, said firms should make Aids a core business issue.
"HIV infected staff must receive the same benefits and welfare as employees with cancer," he said.
Pornthep Pramualrat from the Thailand Business Coalition said most of Thailand's 150 members were multinational firms. "Thai-owned companies tend to view HIV/Aids as a less important issue," she said.
